The ‘Iranian Messi’ Playing In The Russian League Could Be A Good Addition to Liverpool This January

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had one of the most successful summer transfer windows among clubs within the Premier League. The likes of Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum, Joel Matip and Loris Karius have all played important roles in the starting XI for the club helping them to the top of the table, but with a busy schedule ahead in the next couple of months, the manager will have to keep his side fresh and fit for every game that comes their way. They were dealt a huge blow when Danny Ings was ruled out for the rest of the season and with Sadio Mane also set to leave the club for close to a month in January, Klopp is reportedly looking at players who can add to the forward line for the club.

The likes of Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are two players waiting on the bench for their chance but with fixtures coming thick and fast till the end of the season, it is a smart move from Klopp to invest on a long-term player who can also help them when needed this season. One such player who is extensively linked with a move to the club is FC Rostov forward Sardar Azmoun.

The 21-year old made a controversial move from Rubin Kazan a couple of seasons ago and has slowly grown on to become an influential player for the side this season. He has scored some important goals in the club’s Champions League campaign recently and has 15 goals in 20 games for his country making him one of the most exciting prospects in world football.

The likes of Arsenal, Everton and Stoke have also been interested in the player but Klopp seems to be convinced that he is the man and has been monitoring his situation for more than a month now. Standing at 6”1’, the 21-year old is an imposing attacker who loves to throw himself in the final third. He is a player who is effective in a striker’s position but his pace and ability with the ball at his feet make him an effective player in any of the three positions in the attacking line, hence, he would perfectly fit in Klopp’s 4-3-3.

He is quick, has great control and loves to score and create chances, making him a perfect fit for Liverpool and though he is not yet a prolific goal scorer, he has been more quite effective for the Russian outfit in the domestic league and also in Europe this season.

He is fleet-footed, loves to dribble and is nicknamed as ‘The Iranian Messi’ and though it will put some pressure on the youngster, it is an attestment to his quality at such a young age. The manager also has his eyes on Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic but with the German outfit adamant to let him go, Azmoun might be a perfect addition to this Liverpool squad especially with replacements required when Mane is out on international duty in January.

Do you think Azmoun is a good addition for Liverpool?
