Man United offloading this outstanding 20-year-old after Wan-Bissaka’s arrival would be a huge transfer blunder by Solskjaer

Manchester United opinion: Selling Dalot would be a huge transfer blunder

According to Metro, Manchester United are willing to let Diogo Dalot go after securing the signature of Aaron Wan-Bissaka on Sunday.

The Englishman was one of the standout right-backs in the Premier League last season and was, perhaps, one of the best out-and-out defensive players in Europe even.

He stood out due to his battles against the best wingers in the Premier League and come out on top almost every time. He uses his reading of the game and his long legs to recover from any difficult situation.

Dalot was bought only last season under Jose Mourinho. He had surgery before the season started which meant that he wouldn’t make a start in the first-team until much later in the season.

He impressed in his first start for the club against Swiss club, Young Boys, which showed the United faithful a sign of things to come.

Dalot was a breath of fresh air in a season that the Red Devils will want to put to bed as soon as possible. He played as a right-back, left-back, right wing-back and a right-winger which showed just how useful he is and his versatility.

His defining moment was the time when he won a penalty in the dying seconds of the second-leg quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.

He can deputize in so many positions and United would be making another blunder if they were to consider selling him. Dalot has so much in his Arsenal and he’s only 20-years old.

The 20-year-old Portuguese has a long way to go and has already impressed in his short time at the club. He is the long-term heir, along with Wan-Bisakka, to the positions that had been taken up by Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia.

Dalot loves a step over and has a fantastic delivery. United, throughout their history, have been identified with great wide players and Dalot fits in perfectly with that identity. He’s also young and the club have always looked at nurturing younger players.

Conclusion

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot as options, United will have made one of their weakest positions from last season into one of their positions of strength and the duo should challenge each other to that first-team spot.

They provide different tactical solutions and United should look to use both instead of choosing between the two.
