This 19-year-old Irish starlet could be the ideal long-term replacement for the ageing talisman Jamie Vardy and Leicester must get him

Leicester should Irish striker Ali Reghba as Jamie Vardy’s successor

Ali Reghba of Irish outfit Bohemians FC has triggered interest from Leicester City, according to reports from Daily Mail.

Leicester City have had an average season and currently find themselves at 8th place just 1 point behind 7th-placed Watford but a whole 10 points behind 6th-placed Manchester United. This is the gap that Leicester fans are hoping their club can fill over the next few seasons.

This Leicester team did the unthinkable and won the league a few seasons ago even with the presence of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City in the equation. They did it with aplomb and they were able to increase the performance levels of some certainly average looking players.

Players like Christian Fuchs and Shinji Okazaki can’t seem to get a game now but Leicester fans will always expect more from their club after their title-winning episode. Jamie Vardy has been their talismanic figure for a long time now and while he does consistently score goals, it could be time to bring in another striker to try a different approach.

Vardy is a hard worker who does everything for his team from scoring goals on a regular basis to defending set-pieces. He is a key part of this team and without him, they don’t look quite as effective. Considering that Jamie is 32 now, it is about time Leicester start looking for his long-term replacement – not a ready-made one but someone they can groom into what Vardy was.

According to Daily Mail, they’ve identified 19-year-old Irishman Ali Reghba who plays for the Bohemians FC as their main target. He is a central striker who while playing for Irish club, is currently on a trial at Leicester. He recently scored 2 goals and won a penalty for their U23 side’s in the 3-0 win against Swansea.

He has impressed the Leicester coaches who are keen on signing the youngster on a permanent basis to develop him into a potential first-team player. He has an excellent head inside the box and is very sharp with his turns in small spaces.

He also possesses the smarts of a top poacher, with his cat-like reactions and movements in the box. He is also excellent with his back facing the goal and has a strong positional sense.

He is also a very good finisher and a powerful runner – all qualities required in a person expected to replace Jamie Vardy. While he is certainly still a work in progress, he has the potential to be a Premier League star and Leicester would do well to sign him as quickly as they can.
