Everton opinion: Should Everton sign Fedor Chalov?
Everton’s problems in front of the goal have been overly evident this season. As a result, Marco Silva has been forced to play summer signing Richarlison as a No. 9.
Everton’s striking duo of Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have scored just 6 goals combined so far in the Premier League. The Toffees need reinforcements in the summer to compete for a European place.
To that end, CSKA Moscow’s 20-year-old sensation Fedor Chalov will be an incredible addition to Marco Silva’s side and they should seriously consider signing him in the summer. The Russian has scored 9 goals and has provided 4 assists so far this season.
The Russian national side has great hopes for their new generation with the likes of Aleksandr Golovin and Aleksey Miranchuk. But Chalov’s impressive performances in the Russian top flight should boost his country’s hopes in the upcoming competitions.
Chalov first came into the spotlight when he scored 4 goals in a game against Monaco in the UEFA Youth League. In his first 32 senior starts for the club, the 20-year-old has scored an impressive 21 goals and his performances are set to get him his first international call-up this March.
Chalov can both play as a lone striker or as a second striker to a target man in front of him. His outstanding ability to create and exploit space makes him a dangerous attacker to deal with.
His movement towards the ball and the runs he makes in behind the opposition defenders are brilliant. However, his decoy runs to take a couple of defenders with him to create space for his teammates makes him a brilliant addition to any squad.
One of Chalov’s impressive traits in front of the goal is his composure. This was evident in CSKA Moscow’s 3-0 thumping of Real Madrid at the Bernabeu when Chalov calmly shifted the ball on to his left foot before curling in the opener.
The young Russian is also capable of scoring from outside the box where he often uses precision over power to get the ball to the back of the net. His awareness of the position of the goalkeeper is another incredible aspect in his game and will only get better with age.
As a second striker, Chalov often drops deep to pick up the ball and uses his close control and vision to pick up teammates’ runs and also links up around the box before getting through on the goal himself.

With Everton’s struggles to find the net with their strikers proving to be a massive problem, Silva will need to address it in the summer transfer window. A move for Fedor Chalov will provide him with a variety of options up front.
Silva can either play Chalov on his own up top or combine him with the likes of Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin to get the best out of his team. The Toffees should seriously consider the 20-year-old Russian in the summer to solve their attacking woes.
