Norwich City opinions: Christian Fassnacht can liven the Canaries attack

Christian Fassnacht is a 25-year-old Swiss international winger who currently plies his trade for Swiss Super League club BSC Young Boys where he is usually deployed on the right side. Known for his attacking contributions, Fassnacht has been at Young Boys since the summer of 2016.

Having made the switch to the high-flying Young Boys from FC Thun, the youngster has become a key player at the club while his attacking creativity and output have been of high value to them right from when he joined.

Norwich City are currently the favourites to win the Championship title this season if the points table is something to go by. Having had an excellent season under the able guidance of manager Daniel Farke, the Canaries’ jump to the top of the league this season has been monumental.

Having finished last season in a meagre 14th place, their rise to the pinnacle of the Championship table has been a gradual and steady journey which certainly hasn’t been devoid of drama and excitement.

Currently at the top of the table, the Canaries will be hoping to see off the rest of the campaign to ensure that they finish as champions and also gain the biggest prize of them all – promotion to the coveted Premier League.

They have gone about their business extremely well this season and if there’s any position that they need to think about strengthening in view of possible top-flight action next season, then it’s the flanks as they currently have just three recognised winger options.

The regulars Emiliano Buendia and Onel Hernandez have both been quite good this term while the alternative is utilising Todd Cantwell. While these three players may have been enough to get them through the Championship, the Premier League is a different ball-game and that’s why the purchase of reinforcements must be in order.

They needn’t look past Swiss winger Christian Fassnacht to find the perfect player for Daniel Farke’s system. Able to move the ball past and with great control, the 25-year-old shows amazing composure on the ball and works even harder when tracking back.

His crossing is another one of his strengths, while he does have an eye for goal and is capable of finding it from large distances.

Conclusion

He has scored 9 and assisted 2 from his 25 league games for BSC Young Boys this term and these numbers should be motivation enough for Farke to make a move in the summer.
