Three Transfer Ins And Outs That Could Happen At Tottenham Hotspur In January

Having failed to find consistency this season, Tottenham are struggling to break into the top-4 in the points table and Mauricio Pochettino will now be desperate to add fresh faces to the squad, to improve his team for the second half of the season. The manager is expected to be busy this January, after failing to acquire their top transfer targets in the summer and this has seen the club get linked with a number of deals this month.

A number of star players are being extensively linked with a move to Wembley in January, while a few might quit before the deadline day. Here are three ins and outs that Spurs might oversee this January transfer window:

Outs

Danny Rose

The English international is evidently unhappy at the club at the moment and was linked with an exit even in the summer. Manchester United were close to sealing a deal for the full-back but a deal failed to go through before the deadline day. Though Pochettino has used him regularly enough this season, Rose and his wage demands will not go down well with the London club, who could end up selling him for an astronomical price in January.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou

The 22-year-old winger was expected to leave on loan in the summer but the manager could not find the right club for his development. So it does not come as a surprise that he has failed to cement a place in the first-team, making just one start for the club across all competitions this season. At his age, he has to spend as much time as he can on the field and should start searching for a club who can play him regularly.

Toby Alderweireld

The Belgian international is easily one of the most important members of the squad at Wembley at the moment but he has missed a number of games this season due to a lengthy injury. He has started just 10 games this season, missing 20 with a hamstring injury but Spurs have managed well without him during this time.

It is reported that the 28-year old is not ready to extend his stay with Spurs, who are ready to offer him a contract extension. He has been extensively linked with an exit and though not easy, he might end up being lured out of Wembley before the deadline day, later this month.

Ins

Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City)

The Algerian winger was a transfer target for the club even in the summer but Leicester City were reluctant to sell him. However, recent reports suggest that they could offload the playmaker for anything around £50m, which will be a decent coup for Spurs. Pochettino needs a game-changing attacker, to get them through the tough games and Mahrez, who has a PL medal, could be a superb addition to the club.

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

The English winger has easily been the best player for the Eagles for more than a year now and sooner rather than later, he will quit the club, in search of some silverware. Palace are no longer struggling in the drop zone but a chance to play for Pochettino and revive his career might be enough for him to be tempted to quit Crystal Palace in January. He will not come cheap and is surely worth a good price tag, given his performances for a struggling side.

Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham)

Finally, Spurs should look to seal the deal to sign Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon in January. The 17-year-old was close to moving to Tottenham in the summer but Spurs failed to finalise the move before the deadline day. However, if they end up losing Rose this month, Sessegnon can be lured away this time around, with a place in the first-team waiting already. He will also not be cheap but given his potential, his price should not be an issue for Pochettino’s side.
