Time for goodbye? – 4 Ideal destinations for this Leicester City veteran to consider including Derby County

Robert Huth endured a disappointing season at Leicester City. Over the course of the recently concluded campaign, he failed to take part in any of the Premier League games due to an injury. However, he had played a key role for the side and missed just three league games when Leicester shocked many and won the 2015/16 Premier League title.

The German defender is a free agent now, and speculation about his next destination has been heating up. Derby County, Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough are all said to be interested in his services. But where will he end up this summer?

Middlesbrough

The 33-year-old centre-back is familiar with the surroundings at Riverside. He played there between 2006 – 2009, taking part in 63 games. Taking a look at Boro’s roster, a new central defender is not an essential asset.

Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis

Tony Pulis already has Daniel Ayala, Ryan Shotton, Ben Gibson and Martin Cranie for this position. If one of them leaves though, Huth might be a valuable signing for the Smoggies.

West Bromwich Albion

Following their relegation from the Premier League, it will be a long and difficult summer for the Baggies. Jonny Evans was sold to Leicester, while Gareth McAuley was released. Darren Moore will need reinforcements, and Huth could prove to be a great choice due to his vast experience.

Derby County

Once upon a time, the former German international was Derby boss Frank Lampard’s teammate at Stamford Bridge. They won two Premier League titles during their time together.

Frank Lampard

The Rams have already released Chris Baird and Jason Shackell. Lampard has Curtis Davies and Richard Keogh at his disposal, but bringing in someone he knows so well could turn out to be a wise move.

Aston Villa

It doesn’t seem likely for Huth to end up at Aston Villa. The club is experiencing some financial difficulties, meaning they will be looking to trim the edges and cut down on expenses.

On the other hand, Villa might decide to bring in a replacement for John Terry. If that’s the case, Huth seems like an excellent option for the Birmingham side.
