Three Replacements For Slaven Bilic Who West Ham United Can Target

As far as the Premier League is concerned, West Ham United have always remained an enigma, performing exceedingly well in one season and miserably in the very next one. They bid adieu to their old Boleyn Ground and moved into the Olympic Stadium at the beginning of last season, but they have failed to do anything of note since then. The Hammers could only manage a 11th-place finish last season, and this season has begun on an abysmal note after they lost all 3 of their opening league games, finding themselves at the bottom of the table.

Under such circumstances, rumours are swirling that club chairman David Sullivan has run out of patience with manager Slaven Bilic and that he will sack him soon. Though reports later emerged that Bilic would be given few more games before getting the axe, it is certain that his future is up in the air.

In this piece, we take a look at 3 possible managers who could replace the Croatian at the beleaguered club:

Rafael Benitez

Sky Sports is reporting that Rafael Benitez is apparently the most favourite for the job and the former Liverpool manager certainly has the cojones to get West Ham out of the fix that they are in. His Newcastle United side went down during the 2015/16 campaign, but he got the best out of his players and has brought them right back to the Premier League this season.

His exploits with the Merseyside club are well-known, having won the Champions League with them. He will bring the right amount of pragmatism and character which is so desperately required at the club, which will be useful if they are to ward off relegation fears this year. Although it is unlikely that he will leave his job at St. James’ Park anytime soon, football is a fickle sport and things can change at any given moment.

Slavisa Jokanovic

A well-experienced Serbian who has coached clubs in Thailand, Bulgaria and Spain, Slavisa Jokanovic could be at the helm at West Ham this season if things had gone according to plans in the previous window. However, it did not, but it is obvious that the board still rates him capable. The current Fulham manager was responsible for bringing Watford back into the Premier League in 2015 and has also developed a proper system and stability at Craven Cottage. Thus, he is well-respected in England. He would also be a perfect fit for the struggling Hammers.

Alan Pardew

Currently a member of the Sky Sports’ panel, Alan Pardew is the name that automatically comes into the mix whenever a mid-table Premier League club sacks its manager. The Englishman has a wealth of experience in the league and has saved the likes of West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace from relegation before. He could certainly do a job at West Ham, but it remains to be seen if he wants to take up the position or not.
