Top 5 Early Picks For Fantasy Premier League Managers

To the delight of all those football managers sitting in front of their PCs, Fantasy Premier League for the season 2017/18 went live earlier this week. New prices for the players you want, position updates for quite a number of stars, plenty of new arrivals to pick from and a £100million transfer budget to spend.

So what are we waiting for?

Let’s take a look at five players who should be signed up at the earliest for your FPL teams;

Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

The top-scorer from last season is a must-have in your team, isn’t it? The 23-year old Englishman earned 7.5 points per matchweek on an average last time around – the highest among regular starters in the league. His valuation may have gone up to £12.5m after his brilliant campaign last time around, but he is worth the money, as he will bang the goals in on a regular basis.

Paul Pogba (Manchester United)

The Manchester United man will be available at £8m in FPL, which can be considered a decent bargain for the quality he possesses. After having a full season under his belt following his big move from Juventus, the Frenchman will be expected to kick on this time around and start repaying the money that United spent on him. And he could go on and just do that, if he finds his mojo. If he gets going in the early weeks, he could be a constant source of goals and assists for the Red Devils, and a constant source of points for his FPL managers as well. At £8m, snap him up!

Tammy Abraham (Swansea City)

Any takers for the young man who tore apart defences in the Championship last season? The 19-year old striker had an excellent 2016-17 campaign, away on loan at Bristol City, finishing with 23 goals and was also a part of the England U-20 squad that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup this summer. Available at just £5.5m, he is likely to partner Fernando Llorente at the top for the Swans and if he manages to carry the same form as last season, you’ll have struck gold.

Gareth McAuley (West Bromwich Albion)

The veteran defender continues to defy age and start week after week at the heart of the Baggies’ defence and along with Jonny Evans, has formed one of the meanest backlines in the Premier League. Tony Pulis’ sides are often the hardest to break down. So more often than not, you are in for a clean sheet and what’s more, McAuley chips in with goals on regular occasions as well. Last season, he scored 6 goals – second highest by any defender. At just £5m, he is totally worth every penny and is a must-have in your team.

Jordan Pickford (Everton)

The Everton’s club-record summer signing from Sunderland will be the new No.1 at the Goodison Park for the coming season. Pickford made the most number of saves last season (110) and with the defensive duo of Michael Keane and Ashley Williams in front of him, it is unlikely that he will be letting in many goals. Up for taking at £5m, he could turn out to be a smart goalkeeping choice for your team.
