Tottenham opinion: Spurs should beat Arsenal for Marcelo Brozovic
Currently contracted to the Nerazzurri, the 26-year-old has played close to every game for the club, with 36 appearances to his name in all competitions.
This includes 26 in the Serie A, with the midfielder missing just three games down to suspensions and injuries. It shows just how consistent Brozovic can be and more importantly, how fit the Croatian star is for Inter Milan.
While he has had his fair share of injuries over the last few years, it’s been nothing serious, as he has missed just 10 games since arriving at the club. For both Tottenham and Arsenal, it is something both sides need
Both the North London sides have lost a minimum of three or more players to at least two months or more to injuries this season. For Tottenham however, the race for Marcelo Brozovic is one that Mauricio Pochettino needs to win.
They need a destroyer in their side but more importantly, they also need a conductor. That defines Brozovic as the Croatian star can do both relatively well, although he flourishes more as a destroyer. Sitting just in front of the defence, the 26-year-old allows the more creative players some freedom.
He lets them do their work, while he sits back and does his. A brilliant reader of the game, Brozovic is good at intercepting passes. Like all great defensive midfielders, he can also start forward moves with brilliant, effective and accurate passes.
That has been one of the many reasons why Inter Milan have done well this season and why Croatia got as far as they did. While that Croatia side had the likes of Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic, Ivan Perisic and even Ante Rebic to help them score the goals, what Marcelo Brozovic did is often not noticed.
A subtle destroyer, the 26-year-old disappeared behind the star power ahead of him. But without his presence in the side, there is no chance that either Modric or Rakitic could have done what they did in Russia.
It’s that ability Tottenham need more than anything, as it will allow the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min to flourish.

Tottenham need new additions in the summer and one area they need to reinforce is their midfield.
Losing Mousa Dembele hurt them more than anyone ever imagined, but adding someone like Marcelo Brozovic will help them move forward. The fact that they would beat Arsenal in the process is an added factor to this chase.
