Tottenham reviving interest in signing this all-action Englishman from PL outfit would ease their midfield woes

Tottenham Hotspur opinion: Spurs should revive their interest in Jack Grealish

There’s still some getting used to with the early deadline day in the transfer window and with 9 days before the Premier League starts, it’s important to come to conclusions with certain deals. One side that has a rich history on deadline day are Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs have a massive summer to be looking forward to in their new stadium and will also have a new signing to look forward to in Tanguy Ndombele after being starved of any transfer activity for an entire season.

They’ve also got English youngster Jack Clarke over the line but he’s been sent back on loan to continue his development under Pochettino’s mentor, Marcelo Bielsa, at Leeds for another season.

It’s hard to pinpoint what Spurs want from this season, as they have players who should be challenging for titles every season but don’t seem to be doing enough to really make a statement in the transfer window.

They’ve got Tanguy Ndombele but he’s a direct replacement for Mousa Dembele and won’t add anything different to what the Belgian offers.

They were linked with Jack Grealish most of last summer and they should revive their interest in the Aston Villa player as he’s someone who could use the step-up after a couple of stellar seasons in the Championship.

He also slightly improved his end product in the second half of the season with some spectacular solo efforts, which helped guide the Villans to a playoff spot and the eventual promotion.

Mauricio Pochettino has shown his ability to work with younger players and has shown an affinity towards English players like Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Harry Winks and Harry Kane.

Dean Smith has been fantastic for Jack Grealish but the player should still consider the move as he will get the chance to play Champions League football with a lot of top players.

He would also increase his chances of making it to the national team, which might be a lot harder at Villa with so much competition up for places. Grealish is a fantastic dribbler and ball progressor with a good work ethic and Pochettino could mould him into a more complete footballer.

Spurs need to show more ambition as they haven’t won silverware in a long time and should look at Liverpool as an example. Investment is necessary and the small margins make the difference in the big competitions.
