Tottenham signing this promising Championship starlet would get them one of the best British talents in the circuit

Tottenham opinion: Spurs should go all out for Jack Clarke

According to reports from English news the Metro, Tottenham are all set to make Leeds United starlet Jack Clarke their first signing of the summer window. The North London side have been linked with moves for Tanguy Ndombele, Joachim Andersen and Max Aarons amongst others.

But nothing has materialized so far with the club still in negotiations. Yet the report further adds that despite Clarke’s lack of first-team minutes, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has told him that he will compete for a first-team spot next season.

This should come as a surprise, given that Clarke has played just 894 career minutes. Every single second has come last season, with Clarke making 25 appearances for the Whites.

Tottenham have struggled in the transfer market over the last few years and the move for Jack Clarke will come as little surprise.

Tottenham’s last signing was Lucas Moura in the January 2018 window. That meant that the club went the entire 2018/19 season without spending a single pound in transfer fees.

A bizarre fact for a club chasing after the title and it’s why Tottenham collapsed. Tottenham’s interest in the young winger has grown recently and Spurs fans are now desperate for a new face.

They were linked with a move a month ago by the Daily Mail, with things only coming to fruition now. A tricky customer, the 18-year-old uses a combination of pace and intelligence to beat opponents.

That is something that nearly every wide attacker has but Jack Clarke is more than just a regular winger. He has this air of unpredictability combined with that innate confidence that teenagers his age have. It’s what makes him standout.

The 18-year-old has shown a marked improvement in his game, including his defensive work rate, which has seen his stock rise considerably.

It’s also one of the many reasons why a move for Tottenham makes a lot of sense but they’ll have to take it easy and not rush his development.

Conclusion

Jack Clarke is a talented star and one that has clearly shown a lot of potential to improve as time passes on. It’s why a move to Tottenham makes a lot of sense given Mauricio Pochettino’s history with younger stars and maybe with time, he could become the next success story.
