Tottenham signing this Argentine sensation from Udinese would be a massive boost to solve Pochettino’s attacking woes

Signing Rodrigo De Paul could finally guide Spurs to Premier League triumph

According to Tutto Mercato, Rodrigo De Paul of Serie A side Udinese has been piquing the interest of English side Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently facing a crisis because of the lack of attacking players available for selection.

Tottenham’s season certainly hasn’t gone the way Mauricio Pochettino would’ve planned it in the summer. While he was quietly confident at the start of the campaign, the consequences of the Christmas period has affected Spurs quite badly.

The resources available at Pochettino’s disposal should have been enough to see the season through and possibly even fight for the title. As it turns out, however, Spurs have faced a chaotic couple of months with a majority of their players missing due to various reasons.

Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko have all picked up untimely knocks while Heung-min Son is representing South Korea at the AFC Asian Cup knockout stages. This has put Mauricio in a tight situation – one that could take him a while to get out of.

The lack of depth in this side is coming into the frame now and has made the fans realise what losing the core of your team can do. Spurs have to be thinking about signing some players as reinforcements.

The central striker’s role is one of massive concern for Tottenham because of the sheer quality of Harry Kane. Any other striker in front of the likes of Alli and Eriksen just doesn’t sit right. Like we’ve seen with Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente, Spurs aren’t nearly as effective without Harry leading the line.

While Son has been able to deputise in that position in certain cases, there is an urgent need for new creative additions at Spurs. Argentine winger Rodrigo De Paul of Udinese has been identified as a possible addition to the Spurs ranks, according to Tutto Mercato.

After developing through the Racing Club academy, he joined Valencia in 2014 before eventually moving to Udinese in the summer of 2016. He has slowly developed into a regular for the Serie A outfit and has made 19 appearances in the league this season while getting 3 assists as well.

He is a versatile midfield player who is an excellent passer of the ball while also being an adept dribbler. His movement on the wings makes him an excellent team player while his long-range shooting ability is the envy of many players.

The Argentine international is capable of playing in any position across the front line and is even able to play in the centre-forward’s role. His top-class passing and finishing make him the ideal player for Spurs and Pochettino will do well to attain this player’s signature at the earliest.
