Tottenham Opinion: Why should Spurs sign Firpo?
Whether it was with Betis or the Spanish U20 team, with whom he won the Euro U21 trophy, Firpo always looked an impressive figure throughout the season.
After making himself as one of the pivotal figures of Quique Setien’s revolutionary squad, Firpo racked up 5 goals and 7 assists – an impressive tally for a player of his age.
Furthermore, the Spaniard can play high up the flanks, even in the wide midfielder role, which is evidenced by his goalscoring tally.
And the stats do speak the same as Firpo held a pass success percentage of 82, an average of 1 key pass and 1.3 dribbles per game while having the fair share of success defensively, with 1.6 tackles and 3.7 clearances (in Euro U21). And the aforementioned stats are right up there with his compatriot and Barcelona’s Jordi Alba.
Spurs’ need for defensive reinforcements
The North London side clearly hasn’t gotten carried away by their fantastic run the last term as they have made a strong impact in the ongoing transfer window with a bunch of signings.
Mauricio Pochettino, who broke the long-running transfer drought this summer, wouldn’t be done unless he sorts out the defensive reinforcements.
One of the positions that need to be scrutinized is the left-back unit, where Danny Rose has become predominant.
For the most part, the English full-back looked out of sorts and he is now linked with a summer move.
With that being said, Spurs can take up the services of Firpo, another budding youngster with overflowing potential.

And his versatility will be of great use to the Argentine manager, who always loves to influence his squad with the youngsters.
Spurs have added the likes of Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndomeble, two talented youngsters in their respective positions. And they shouldn’t miss out on Firpo, who is capable of evolving into a complete player under the tutelage of Pochettino.
