Transfer News: Celtic plot move for West Brom centre-back Dara O’Shea

Celtic FC News: Celtic are eyeing up a move for West Bromwich Albion’s Dara O’Shea, according to Scottish Sun.

The 20-year-old is due to return to the Hawthorns after an impressive loan spell with Exeter City in Football League 2.

Player stats

The Irish prospect progressed through the youth ranks of the Baggies and signed for the first-team in 2017. He was straight away loaned to English club Hereford.

He has made 27 appearances for the Grecians, who finished 9th in the table this season.

Having featured mainly in the reserves for the baggies, O’Shea is yet to make his mark in the first-team.

He has also made considerable appearances for the Republic of Ireland’s U-19 and U-21 sides.

Why Should the Celts move for O’Shea?

The Hoops are depleted with defending options as Dedryck Boyata is set for Hertha Berlin move, while Jozo Simunovic is being linked with Alaves.

Kristoffer Ajer remains the only solid centre-back and the Hoops would benefit with the addition of O’Shea.

Meanwhile, the Baggies have failed to secure promotion to the Premier League after losing out to Derby County in the playoffs semi-final.

Given this, the Hoops can lure the Irish youngster to Celtic Park and can ensure him more playing time, which wasn’t provided by his parent club.
