Two Transfers That Could Help Crystal Palace Get Back On Track Including Man City Star

Frank De Boer

Two Loan Deals Crystal Palace Should Look To Get Done Before The Transfer Deadline Day

It has been an eventful summer at the Selhurst Park, with Crystal Palace first losing Sam Allardyce, after the former England manager guided them to safety last season. The club then appointed Frank de Boer as the new manager – first time they have brought in a non-British coach.

The recruitment in the window hasn’t been all gung-ho, with the Dutchman not really splurging the cash and instead looking to get shrewd deals done. As expected, De Boer has looked to back young talents and it has reflected on the players he has signed as well – Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, both on loan from Chelsea and Manchester United respectively, along with versatile defender Jairdo Riedewald from the boss’ former club AFC Ajax.

The start hasn’t been that great, with Palace losing both their matches in the Premier League, to newbies Huddersfield Town and Liverpool, indicating that there’s work to be done. A few more players coming in wouldn’t be the worst thing.

With less than 10 days left before the transfer window slams shut, here we take a look at two more transfer deals that the Eagles should look to complete.

Tim Krul (Newcastle United)

Having sold goalkeeper Steve Mandanda earlier this summer, Palace are short of a goalkeeper in their ranks. While Wayne Hennessey has done well as the No.1, De Boer has just the ageing Julian Speroni, who has hardly played over the past two years, as the backup. So, a move for a new goalkeeper does make sense for the Eagles. De Boer should not look farther than compatriot Tim Krul, to bring in at the Selhurst Park.

The Dutch international isn’t needed at Newcastle United and has been told to find a new club, by manager Rafael Benitez, who is currently using Rob Elliot as his No.1 between the sticks. Krul has been with the Magpies for over 10 years now and has notched up a total of 157 appearances in the Premier League. A proven custodian, at both club and international levels, he will massively improve the quality of the team.

Fabian Delph (Manchester City)

The Manchester City midfielder is surplus to requirements at the Etihad this year, two years after he made the controversial move from Aston Villa.

Delph only played 13 times last season for Pep Guardiola’s side, in which he managed to score twice. His time at the Etihad has been plagued by injuries, but there is no doubting his ability and quality. The 27-year old has demonstrated that he can be a solid option to rely upon in the middle of the park, having made over 130 Premier League appearances. His range of distribution, combined with his dribbling and ability to sense danger make him a good fit for the Palace midfield.
