Two Premier League clubs who should sign this £17m Tottenham flop this month including Fulham

Two Premier League clubs who should sign Tottenham flop Vincent Janssen

Vincent Janssen was signed from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the summer window of 2016 with massive expectations placed on his shoulders, courtesy of the Spurs faithful. He had an extremely successful spell with the Dutch side where he made a total of 49 appearances and scored 32 goals in the process.

He signed for Tottenham in a £17m deal as a backup striker to challenge English star Harry Kane for the regular starting role. As Heung-Min Son is often preferred if Kane is unavailable, it’s quite clear that he has failed to nail down a place.

He has only made 39 appearances for Tottenham in his two and a half years, scoring just 6 goals in the process.

While some fans might argue that he wasn’t able to prove himself because he was only given time off the bench, he started 6 times during his first season and did nothing to show himself in an overly positive light.

This could be the right time for Spurs to offload the striker and they certainly are considering it, according to reports from Daily Mail. Let’s look at two Premier League clubs who could use the talented Dutchman most effectively.

Cardiff City

Any side that has had to resort to playing a central midfielder in the central striker’s position could use the services of a proven goalscoring striker. They have scored just a total of 19 goals in their 21 Premier League games so far this term.

They currently sit two points above the relegation zone at 17th place but that is largely down to the poor performances by teams below them.

If Cardiff are looking to save themselves from relegation early and avoid the chaos at the end, then they urgently need an out and out striker who can produce the goods on a regular basis. They need to look no further than Tottenham.

Fulham FC

Fulham, at the start of this season, made Aleksandar Mitrovic’s loan move permanent and that has paid off to a certain extent. While Mitrovic has been scoring at a decent pace, goals from the wingers and other midfield players seem to have dried up.

Having scored just 19 goals in 21 games, Vincent Janssen could be the perfect player to bring in for Claudio Ranieri to try a different approach with his Fulham side. The possibility of Janssen and Mitrovic partnering up as a duo up front could be fruitful for the London side.
