“Waste of resources”, “A joke”: Some Man United fans tear star man apart after painful 3-0 loss to Barcelona + Match report

Barcelona vs Manchester United report – Manchester United Match Report

Lionel Messi starred as Barcelona knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League with a 3-0 win in the second leg of the last-eight tie at Camp Nou. The Catalans won the tie 4-0 on aggregate.

The Argentine maestro scored two goals, while Philippe Coutinho added the other to complete a demolition job. United never looked in it, especially once they conceded the opening goal.

Marcus Rashford had a chance in the early seconds of the game but he hit the crossbar. After that, it was all Barca.

They took the lead in the 16th minute when Ashley Young got caught on the ball. Messi then took over possession at the edge of the United box and fired in a low shot past David de Gea.

Four minutes later, the home side won the ball in the United half and the ball fell to Messi’s feet. His shot from his weaker foot was straight at the keeper, but de Gea made a meal of it and allowed it squirm past him.

At 2-0, the tie looked done and dusted, and Barcelona started playing attractive football without much pressure.

They tripled the lead on the night in the second half when Coutinho curled in from a fair distance out into the top corner.

United came closest in the 90th minute when former Barca man Alexis Sanchez’s header was miraculously saved by Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

All in all, it was a meek performance from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, who were just not good enough to challenge this Barca team. They are now under pressure to produce good results in the upcoming league games. If they fail to do so, Europa League is waiting.
