Watford vs Arsenal: Player Ratings as Spanish Star Proves His Worth Again

Arsenal moved up to second place in the Premier League table with a convincing 3-0 win over Watford. Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring on 62 minutes as the Gunners finally broke Watford’s solid defence, before Olivier Giroud added a second shortly after coming on. Aaron Ramsey completed the scoring on 74 minutes as Arsene Wenger’s side moved to the second spot. The first half was a bit of a struggle for the Gunners, with Watford maintaining excellent shape and solidity. Here we look at how the Arsenal player did against Watford.

Petr Cech-6

Another clean sheet and he surpassed David James in all-time EPL clean sheet record. Had a nervous moment in the first half when he collided with Mertesacker but overall wasn’t troubled too much.

Hector Bellerin-7

A player who is in the best form of his life and easily the best right-back in EPL right now. Contributed hugely going forward and was solid defensively. Gained a deserved assist for the last goal.

Nacho Monreal-6

was caught out of positions sometimes during the first half but was much better after the break. Didn’t venture forward too much like Bellerin but the Spaniard could become a favourite for Arsene Wenger.

Per Mertesacker-6.5

Picked up a second-half booking, but the German was superb in both halves as he read the game brilliantly. Was caught a couple of times in difficult situations due to his speed.

Laurent Koscielny-7

Came back into the team in place of the unwell Paulista, but the Frenchman did not look rusty and had some excellent moments.

Aaron Ramsey-7

Scored his first goal of the season though it was a sloppy one. Did plenty of running as usual but was wasteful on a couple of occasions when he should really have been scoring.

Francis Coquelin-7

Like the entire Arsenal team, he was much better in the second half. Did his job efficiently behind the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, allowing them time on the ball.

Santi Cazorla-7

He has been one of the most consistent performers for Arsenal this season, very quietly goes about his business pulling strings in the middle of the park and providing cutting edge passes.

Mesut Ozil-7

A really good performance by the German as he grabbed two assists. Has been criticized a lot but seems to be getting back into his groove now.

Alexis Sanchez-7.5

Fast becoming one of the contenders for player of the year. though it’s still early stages in the League. He has 10 goals in his last 5 matches.

Theo Walcott-6

Looks like he might need a rest after playing in the international break. Whenever he got the ball, he was quickly closed down by the players in the yellow jersey.
