Well Done Jurgen Klopp – Why This Bargain Liverpool Summer Buy Could Become The Best Signing Of The Season

Andrew Robertson

Why Andrew Robertson Could Be Liverpool’s Signing Of The Summer

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have made a decent start to their league campaign and will now look to establish a winning run, that will keep them close to the top of the table. They have failed to land their top transfer targets in Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk this summer but have added three exciting players in Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson.

While Salah is expected to be a first team player, having already made a huge impact, Solanke will only be used off the bench and in cup games. But one player that has created a few waves with a man of the match performance on his debut for the club, is Andrew Robertson.

The Scottish international moved to Anfield from Hull City after the Tigers were relegated but he was not expected to be the first choice for the club this early. However, he got his chance to perform in the first game at Anfield and he did not let the fans down.

With a passing accuracy of 91%, Robertson created 6 chances, more than any other Liverpool player in the first half, and has 3 key passes to his name already. He won two tackles, made an interception and a couple of clearances and managed to keep a clean sheet in his first game for Liverpool.

He showed his prowess down the left flank in the attack, making darting runs beyond the backline and delivering inch-perfect crosses. Naturally left-footed, he is an asset to have in the attack on the left-hand side, and his pace and precision have already made Liverpool a better team in the attack.

Though he only faced Crystal Palace, he was hardly ever found out of position and won almost everything thrown at him at the back, keeping Liverpool’s goal away from danger. He is a bit eager in the attack and will learn with game time. Klopp thinks Andrew can also work on his defensive frailties but he is a genuine upgrade on the options that Liverpool already have in their armoury.

He is surely a dangerous weapon against sides that sit back and defend while his ability to do the same against top sides will come in handy for a shaky Liverpool backline. He showed confidence, composure and ability to learn, all in the span of the 90 minutes and has already won over many Liverpool hearts.

He may not be a goal scorer to net in winners for Liverpool but it looks like he definitely has solved an impending problem at the club for over half a decade, which in itself will make Liverpool a stronger outfit. It should not come as a surprise if he turns out to be the biggest signing for the Reds this summer, coming in at a mere £8m.
