Well done Warnock – Cardiff’s record move for 6ft 2in giant would be a huge turning point this season

Why Emiliano Sala can be the perfect striker for Cardiff City

Cardiff City very well need reinforcements, failing which things could go from bad to worse. Right now, the Bluebirds’ main January target should be a striker to allow make-shift forward Callum Patterson to move back to his regular midfield role where he has flourished.

While Patterson has done relatively well the Bluebirds have completed a club record move for FC Nantes striker Emiliano Sala. The 27-year-old has been at his very best this season, producing 15 goals in 21 appearances, miles ahead of anyone in Cardiff’s team. In comparison, Bobby Reid, Gary Madine and Kenneth Zohore have only managed 2 goals between them all season.

Sala’s arrival should boost the side and alongside on-loan Everton star Oumar Niasse, he should be able to lift the spirits at the club.

While the Senegalese forward has struggled during his time in the Premier League, Emiliano Sala should have no issues adjusting to the physical and rough-natured English top-flight.

A centre-forward by nature, Sala is a very effective target man, proving to be more than useful during his four-year tenure with Nantes.

The Argentine has hit double figures in his last three seasons but more so, his ability to create has been more than useful, producing 13 assists in his last four seasons.

Not to mention, his hold up play combined with strength and ability on the ball further adds to his value for Cardiff City. What could and has proven to be a selling point with the 6’2” striker is the fact that he can score goals of various types.

Over the course of this season alone, Sala has been reliable in the air and as a spot-kick taker. This combined with his movement in the final third makes him a dangerous player. With wingers like Josh Murphy, Junior Hoilett and even Oumar Niasse alongside him, Sala has a team around him that can help him flourish.

While his lack of speed might prove to be an issue, the fact that Cardiff City also brought in Oumar Niasse shows that Neil Warnock knows exactly who he is buying.
