West Ham grabbing the chance to sign 10-goal Premier League hotshot would solve a key issue for Manuel Pellegrini

West Ham opinion – Hammers in for Aleksandar Mitrovic – good move?

According to a report in the Express (h/t Mirror), West Ham United are interested in signing Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Cottagers’ relegation from the Premier League could see Mitrovic looking at new pastures, according to the report.

The Hammers are keeping a close eye on him as the summer window approaches us (h/t Express).

Despite Fulham having a rotten season back in the top-flight, the Serb has managed to score 10 goals in 32 games. Here’s why West Ham would be right in signing the 24-year-old in the upcoming summer transfer window:

Hammers need a target man up top

It is well documented that West Ham have struggled for goals from their strikers. On paper, they have four options for the role – Andy Carroll, Javier Hernandez, Marko Arnautovic and Lucas Perez, but none of them have really taken their chance and made the slot their own.

Their top goal-scorer this season is Felipe Anderson with 8 goals, and he is a left-winger. Hence, it is pretty clear that Manuel Pellegrini and his men must find a way to sort the centre-forward dilemma out before the start of next season.

That being said, Mitrovic could be an ideal addition to this team. The Fulham man is a lethal target-man who can hold the ball up, run the channels and is also pretty good at providing knock-downs and linking up with the runners.

Therefore, we can see why Mitrovic is attracting interest from West Ham. Now, what the Hammers need to do is to make a sizeable offer in the summer transfer window and sign the Serbian international.
