West Ham would work wonders by beating Leicester to sign this impressive 27-year-old goal machine

West Ham Opinion – Why West Ham should beat Leicester in signature of Moussa Marega

According to a report in Leicestershire Live (h/t Correio da Manha), Premier League duo Leicester City and West Ham are interested in signing FC Porto striker Moussa Marega.

The 27-year-old has had an impressive season and is attracting interests from various clubs across Europe due to his eye-catching performances in the Champions League. (h/t Leicestershire Live)

Marega scored for the Portuguese side against AS Roma in the second leg of the last-16 to help his team reach the quarter-finals. That goal took his competition tally to six this season, which is only two behind the top-scorer Lionel Messi.

As per the report, Leicester have been interested in Marega for a some time now, and West Ham are not far away when it comes to keeping track of him.

Here’s why the Hammers should beat the Foxes in the signature of the 27-year-old:

West Ham need quality up front

As of now, the Hammers have Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll as the options, out of which one can lead the line. However, none of them have lived up to the standards this season.

Arnautovic, their first-choice frontman, was close to leaving the club in January, but decides to stay at the last moment. Nevertheless, he hasn’t been able to perform since. While Hernandez and Carroll are just backup strikers anyway.

As a result of that, the club has planned a massive striker clear-out, with Lucas Perez, Hernandez and Arnautovic all on the sale list. It also seems like Carroll has played his last game for the club, as his injury concerns take control again.

Hence, it makes sense that Manuel Pellegrini and his men do everything in their might to sign a high-quality striker in Moussa Marega. The Porto man is at the top of his game and can lead the line with aplomb.

The 27-year-old is one of those strikers who has pace, physicality, height and shooting prowess to become a headache for defenders at all times. At the moment, he is probably right up there with one of the lethal strikers in Europe.

Conclusion

If West Ham manage to beat Leicester and other potential suitors for the signature of Marega, they can have a fantastic chance of challenging the top-six teams in the Premier League, especially by their attacking ruthlessness.

The prospects are enticing but completing a deal for one of Europe’s hot properties won’t be easy. Thus, the Hammers have to be proactive when the opportunity arises and make a good offer.
