West Ham’s Transfer Mistakes: Selling These Two Players Was A Blunder In Recent Times

A Bad Move From West Ham To Have Let These Players Go

Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United have made decent progress in the last couple of seasons and though they are struggling 12th place in the points table, they have a decent squad that, when fully fit, can compete with the best in the league. The manager has made a number of changes to the squad at the club in recent times and though he got most of the new signings to shine, he has not had a 100% record with his transfers. While he has spent on deadwood, he has also let a few players leave in recent times. The Hammers have sold some of their most important players to bigger clubs recently and surely, they have been missing that quality this season. Though the fans might not agree, here are two players West Ham should have never sold in recent times.

Mohamed Diame (Newcastle United)

The 29-year old midfielder who is currently doing a decent job at the St James Park in the Championship arrived at the Boleyn ground back in 2012 on a free transfer from Wigan Athletic. He went on to make 71 appearances for the Hammers in just two seasons, scoring 7 goals in the process. In his final season with the club, he wanted to stay and fight for his position but West Ham decided to move on and let him leave in 2014. In just 50 appearances with Hull, he scored 13 goals, eventually helping them to gain promotion. And in just two years, he has earned himself a place in mission promotion, under Rafa Benitez at the St James Park. He has 3 goals in 30 appearances this season in the Championship and West Ham could have done well with a player like him in an injury-hit season.
