Everything you need to know about the three Manchester City youngsters called up to first-team training
Three Manchester City academy graduates took part in first-team’s opening training session last Sunday at the academy Stadium. The three players are 20-year-old Cameron Humphreys, the 18-year-old Luke Bolton and 17-year-old Adria Bernabe, who joined the Cityzens this summer from Barcelona.
Pep Guardiola is a type of manager who likes working with youngsters from the academy and push them to challenge for first-team spots; Phil Foden is an ideal example. Pep is a perfectionist in what he does, so the three youngsters must have some special talent.
Here’s a brief report about the three Man City prodigies:
Cameron Humphreys
Humphreys is a centre-back with able physicality and talent to be a big player in the coming years. He is just 20 years old – a very young age for a defender who can learn a lot under a charismatic manager like Guardiola.
Humphreys is a versatile defender who can play as a right-back, centre-back and also as a defensive midfield if required. He has come off age since his arrival to football. At the age of 17, he went with the first-team for their pre-season tour to Australia and played against Real Madrid for 90 minutes.
He made his debut for the U18s while still being eligible for U16s. He was involved with the U21s while being in a pre-season tour to Croatia as a first-year scholar.
Luke Bolton
Bolton is a young right-winger who has proven to be a bright spark at a junior level. He came into recognition when he was selected for City’s U18s during the 2015/16 season. He has taken giant strides at the academy level and is one of the top talents.
He was a part of the pre-season team which travelled to America this summer, and he awed everyone with his pace and trickery on the ball. Bolton can be the future winger for Manchester City, and given the way Guardiola plays his football, he could be someone vital for the club in the future.
Adria Bernabe
The 17-year-old wonder kid arrived from Barcelona this summer. He is a highly talented midfield player who should enjoy working with Guardiola, who is a Barcelona legend.
Barcelona got him from neighbours Espanyol, and losing a player of such a high talent is a blow to the Blaugrana. However, Manchester City have got a gem of a player.
