Who Is This Spanish Midfielder That Liverpool And Arsenal Are Trying To Sign? Everything You Need To Know

Dani Ceballos

Scout Report – Dani Ceballos

Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in a January move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos. The 21-year-old joined Los Blancos after snubbing the interest from their arch-rivals Barcelona but he has failed to cement a spot for himself in the first-team. That, in turn, has stunted his career growth and the player has made just 2 starts this season so far. He needs more time on the field if he is to continue his development and for that to happen, an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu seems like the best option.

However, where will he get a fresh start? At the Emirates stadium or at Anfield? Only time will tell but for now, let’s take a closer look at his profile.

History

Born in 1996 in Utrera, Spain, Ceballos initially joined Sevilla’s youth academy in 2004 but he was eventually released due to an illness. The midfielder then joined his hometown club CD Utrera and his displays attracted attention from Real Betis, who signed him in 2011. He rose through the ranks rapidly and signed his first professional contract with the side in 2014.

It was earlier in July this year when Real Madrid signed Ceballos on a six-year deal. However, his appearances have been quite limited even though he scored a brace in his first league start against Deportivo Alaves. As far as his international career is concerned, Ceballos has appeared for the Spain U19 and U21 sides.

Playing Style

A speedy runner and a confident dribbler, Ceballos often played as a wide attacker for Betis. However, he has adopted the role of a central midfielder of late. His dribbling skills are top-notch and are quite similar to Luis Suarez’s. The player is a defender’s nightmare considering the ease with which he edges past opponents to fuel attacking runs. His passes are quite accurate and have an incisive quality, which is truly interesting to watch.

His adaptability and confidence are two of his strongest traits and will undoubtedly do wonders for him if he were to join the Premier League in the near future.

Ceballos’ Future

With interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool, it remains to be seen which direction he ultimately gravitates towards. There is enough scope for him to work his magic at both clubs but the Reds already have quite a strong attack. At Anfield, Ceballos could risk becoming surplus to requirements, hence making the Gunners seem like a better choice. With the futures of both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil uncertain, Ceballos would have a better chance at clocking regular minutes at the Emirates.
