Hickey has risen through the ranks very quickly and is now a regular first-team player in the Hearts team. He made his debut few weeks before the Scottish Cup final and has been one of the top players in the team since.

The teenager, who has been in Celtic academy in the past, is a versatile full-back, details of which we will discuss below in his scout report.

Furthermore, we dissect his performances in depth and conclude why Manchester City are right in tracking him ahead of the January window.

Scout Report – Aaron Hickey

Aaron Hickey started his academy career at Hearts FC, before moving to the Celtic U17 team in the summer of 2017.  He then moved to the Hearts FC U18 team a year later on a free transfer.

In terms of his playing positions, the 17-year-old is predominantly a left-back but can operate on the left-wing and also at right-back if required.

From what we have seen of him so far, Hickey is a astute defender in one-v-one situations in wide areas. He has good pace to match the runs of wingers and also runs forward and has a decent cross in him.

If his game is ironed out to a minute extent, which is a certainty to happen in few years’ time, Aaron Hickey can be a top-class full-back in the future.
