Who is this 18-year-old Scottish prodigy being chased by Crystal Palace? – Here’s all you need to know

Scout Report – Scott Banks, Crystal Palace chasing this young star

According to a report in Sun, Crystal Palace want to sign young Scottish talent Scott Banks in the January transfer window after being on his trails for the past few months.

The 18-year-old, who is an attacking midfielder by trade and a Dundee United academy product, won’t sign a new deal with the club despite his contract running out at the end of this season. As a result, he is currently out of the Scotland youth setup as well. (h/t Sun)

Palace are looking to take advantage of that and sign the player for a compromised fee during the January window and add quality to their squad. (h/t Sun)

Roy Hodgson’s men have made a decent start to the season and currently sixth in the table. However, they could do with signings like Banks in their squad to have more strength in depth.

Below, we analyse the 18-year-old’s game in depth in his scout report:

Scout Report – Scott Banks

Scott Banks is a quality young player who has plied his trade as an attacking midfielder so far. He can play as a winger on either side on certain occasions, if required by the manager.

The Scotland U19 international is a Dundee United academy man, who went on loan to Clyde FC in February of this year, before returning to the Dundee U18 team in the summer.

In terms of his attributes, Banks is an astute user of the ball in attacking midfield. He likes to position himself between the lines and link up play with the forwards. He does have a good shot in him to trouble the opposition keeper.

Furthermore, the youngster is still in his learning phase and would enhance his game the more experience he gains in due course of time.
