Who Is This Aston Villa Starlet That Is Making All The Right Noises? Everything You Need To Know

Callum O’Hare

Scout Report – Callum O’Hare

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has told supporters that club’s 19-year-old sensation Callum O’Hare will get his chance in the first-team this season and in fact, he may even play a part in one of Villa’s upcoming games.

Despite regularly featuring in match day squads this term, the prodigy has only played 43 Championship minutes thus far but has starred for the club’s under-23 outfit. The local kid has made three starts in the League Cup this term but had to return to the youth ranks following the club’s exit from the competition.

He scored a hat-trick in a brilliant performance against Newcastle under-23’s when Villa demolished the Geordies 6-0 in Walsall, leading to further calls from fans to give him a first-team chance. His time will inevitably come and here is what we know about him so far.

History

Born in Solihull in 1998, Villa has always been close to the young forward’s heart and he joined the club at a young age before making his way through the ranks.

He improved quickly and by 2016, he was training with the first team squad and began looking to break into the big time at Villa Park. Relegation from the Premier League and further turmoil in their first Championship season perhaps led to a lack of opportunities. But at just 19, he has already risen quickly.

Style Of Play

O’Hare, somewhat indicative of his age perhaps, has plenty of pace and good balance, so he likes to take his man on and often does it successfully.

He prefers to play down the middle and can start reasonably deep in the midfield as well, before moving forward with or without the ball. However, given his talent, a role in the no.10 position could be on the cards for the young man in the Championship before long.

O’Hare’s Future

It is very early of course, so what level O’Hare can reach is anyone’s guess right now. In the likes of Jack Grealish and Lee Hendrie, we have seen plenty of players at this club alone, who come into the side looking like world beaters, only to let others down on the field.

In terms of raw talent however, there is little doubt O’Hare has the ability to make himself a first team regular at Championship level for a club of this nature, though given the fuss around him at the moment, he may well be seen as a possible Premier League star of the future.
