Who Is This Liverpool Attacker That Birmingham Are Trying To Sign? Everything You Need To Know

Ryan Kent – Scout Report

Jurgen Klopp has changed quite a few things at Anfield since his move to Liverpool and adding quality to his academy is one thing that has been a priority. There are a number of sensational players at the Liverpool academy right now and one player constantly attracting interests this summer is winger Ryan Kent.

Arguably one of the quickest players in the country at the moment, Kent is a brilliant attacker who is destined for great things in the future. He is wanted by a host of Championship clubs on a loan deal but who is Kent and what are his strengths? Here is a scout report of the Liverpool starlet ahead of the transfer window:

The Past

Born and brought up in Oldham, England, Kent joined the Reds as a seven-year-old and made it through the ranks at the academy, making it into the senior squad for the first time in 2015. He is yet to make a senior appearance for the Reds in the league and spent the previous season on loan at Barnsley, where he was productive.

Style Of Play

Known for his blistering pace and excellent dribbling abilities, the 20-year old is a left-sided winger, who loves to take on his man from the wings. He is an excellent crosser and creates ample chances from wide areas and has been one of the most productive players in this role in the second tier of English football.

He loves to have the ball at his feet, and though he is weak in the air, he is an excellent passer of the ball, even under severe pressure. He is still young but has a matured head on his shoulder that allows him to work his way out of tough situations, making him a huge asset already.

He is also an excellent finisher but needs to work on his body strength and defensive contributions if he wants to be a hit in the Premier League. At just 20, he will only get better and is a player Klopp will keep a close eye on during the course of the new season.

The Future?

He picked up just 3 goals and 3 assists last season in the Championship but is already wanted by Birmingham and if Klopp wants Kent to be ready for first team action in the years to come, a couple more of such loan deals should do the necessary job. At the moment, however, Kent needs exposure and should be offloaded on a loan this summer.
