Scout Report – Kamil Jozwiak
Polish publication Sport.pl reported on Wednesday that Leeds United have tracked teenager Kamil Jozwiak for some time and that they hope to finally get him on board in the January transfer window.
The report adds that Jozwiak is out of contract soon and is determined to leave his current club, Lech Poznan, with talks of a new deal breaking down. However, Poznan president Karol Klimczak claims to have received Leeds’ offer but says that they have no interest in parting ways with the 19-year-old.
With Leeds tracking his progress for a prolonged period, let us take a closer look at Jozwiak’s profile.
Origin
Born on 22 April 1998 in Miedzyrzecz, Poland, Jozwiak began his footballing career with local club UKP Zielona Góra in 2007. After spending four years, he moved on to join the Academy of Lech Poznan in 2011. In the 2015-16 season, Jozwiak broke into Lech Poznan’s first-team with his debut coming in a 0–2 loss against Jagiellonia Bialystok.
He spent last season at GKS Katowice on loan from Poznan, playing 12 times and scoring 2 goals.
Jozwiak has represented Poland in the U-17, U-18 and U-19 levels, and has participated in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifiers. Poland failed to do wonders then but Jozwiak was one of the shining stars.
What Does He Offer?
Typically a winger, Jozwiak is best suited to playing as a right-winger in a 4-3-3 formation but is also comfortable on the left. Being a speedy bullet, the Polish prodigy has already started drawing comparisons to Spain’s Jesus Navas.
The 19-year-old is a very good dribbler of the ball and can create opportunities in tight spaces. His agility and pace help him slink around challenges. Despite being a teenager, Jozwiak has a very mature reading of the game which often fuels his sharp decision-making on the field.
The Polish winger is an all-action, energetic player on the field, often seen making surging runs into the penalty box. Jozwiak is not a physically imposing figure, but he is still pretty hard to knock off the ball.
An old-fashioned winger, Jozwiak likes to play direct football by running straight at defenders with explosive pace. He holds a low centre of gravity and possesses great control on the ball. Being a speedy merchant, the hotshot is always a threat on the counter-attack.
However, his crossing ability is not that crisp despite him being a traditional winger. Also, Jozwiak struggles when it comes to aerial duels and other challenges. The attacker lacks flair at times but being just a young kid, he has a long way to go and with time, he should overcome his weaknesses, just like other players.
What Does The Future Hold?
Jozwiak has made three appearances and has scored one goal for Lech Poznan this campaign, having made his debut for the club at the age of 17. He is not a regular member of the team and wants to move out of the club next summer.
Despite Poznan rejecting Leeds’ bid for Jozwiak, the Championship side are likely to come up with an improved offer.
Leeds have been on an awful run of form recently and have lost 7 of their last 8 matches in all competitions. And if they succeed in signing Jozwiak in January, the club will get the fresh thrust which they are in dire need of in order to solve their problems.
