Who’s This Highly Rated West Brom Starlet That Bournemouth Are Targeting? Everything You Need To Know

Tyler Roberts

Scout Report – Tyler Roberts

Origin

Born in Gloucester, the 17-year-old initially represented England at school level but later went on to choose Wales as his grandparents were of Welsh heritage. Before the start of Euro 2016, Roberts was called up by Wales manager, Chris Coleman.

West Brom’s Tyler Roberts, who is currently in his third spell with Walsall, continues to impress in the lower tiers. The Wales U-21 international forward who now has 7 goals from his last 20 appearances, is already earning tremendous accolades from the Saddlers fans.

What Does He Offer?

Tyler Roberts was a part of the West Brom squad that lost 4-1 in the final game of the Premier League in the 2015/16 season. Tony Pulis has always been a huge admirer of the Welsh forward and has often stated that he has a promising future.

Young Roberts is known for his incredible pace and intelligence. The 17-year-old lets his feet do the talking with his direct play, and he’s a nightmare for the opposition defence. He doesn’t hold back when it comes to taking on players. For a 17-year-old, Roberts possesses immense strength and is brilliant at hold-up play.

What Does The Future Hold?

After spotting him play for Tredworth Tigers junior side, young Roberts was quickly snapped up by West Bromwich Albion in 2015. The Welsh teenager made some quick progress and was the only player from the junior side to make the senior team in the 2015/16 season.

But ever since his first and last Premier League appearance, Roberts was sent out on loan to Oxford United, followed by Shrewsbury Town, and is now currently with Walsall this season.

However, his recent performances seem to have caught the attention of AFC Bournemouth. Cherries’ recruitment head, Richard Hughes is reportedly keeping tabs on the youngster. Everton are said to be keenly monitoring Joshua King and Roberts could be a potential replacement for the Bournemouth striker.

Tyler Roberts signed his professional contract with West Brom in January 2016, which will come to an end next summer. The Baggies are currently at 10th place on the League table with 9 points and are currently doing a fair job in the Premier League.

If Roberts can continue his progress in League One, Tony Pulis could feature him more regularly for the senior side in the coming months. Baggies are certainly lacking an attacking flair and Roberts could be the perfect addition to the Baggies’ forward line.
