Celtic completing a permanent move for this influential 27-year-old star is an absolute no-brainer – agreed

Why Celtic should sign Moritz Bauer on a permanent deal next summer

Just before the summer transfer deadline in Scotland, Celtic managed to sign Stoke City right-back Moritz Bauer on loan to help them fill the void left by the departure of Mikael Lustig.

The Hoops have new signing Hatem Abd Elhamed as another option for that position but he is more of a defender who can play at right-back if required.

However, as mentioned in BBC back when Bauer was signed, Celtic do have an option to buy the Austria international next summer once his loan spell ends at the Parkhead. It is chiefly because he has fallen out of favour at the Bet365 stadium.

On the other hand, Neil Lennon’s men have made a reasonable start to the season and the right-back has been a positive influence on the team so far. Here’s why the Hoops shouldn’t hesitate in making this loan move permanent next summer:

Bauer could make that position his own

Moritz Bauer is a quality fullback who prefers playing at right-back, but is capable of contributing at left-back and as a wing-back if required.

At 27, he has the experience of playing in various leagues across the continent and also possesses the propensities to perform his job well.

In terms of attributes, the Austria international has terrific pace to make runs up and down the pitch. He is physically strong, has a good cross in him and is an astute defender in one-vs-one situations in the wide areas.

So it has to be said that the Stoke City loanee is a good addition to this Celtic side. With the amount of games he has played for the Hoops so far, there is enough indication that he can make that right-back spot his own at the Parkhead.

Conclusion

Therefore, we can conclude by saying that Celtic should convert Moritz Bauer’s loan move into a permanent one during the next summer transfer window.
