Why Chelsea should demand Marco Asensio in return for Eden Hazard

Chelsea have finally announced the signing of new manager Maurizio Sarri, as the club bids to return to best ways in the upcoming season. It took them a while to get it done but the Blues have finally resolved their managerial issues and the club can now get down to business in the transfer market. With Sarri at the helm, Stamford Bridge can expect to see some high intensity attacking football.

Sarri now faces the task of making a decision on club icon Eden Hazard’s future. Reports suggest that Real Madrid are hunting for the Belgian star and could offer the Blues up to £150million for his signature.

Hazard is and has definitely been Chelsea’s best player over the last few years and it will be a huge void to fill if the Belgian decides to make the move. But the Blues can subsequently get the best out of the deal by negotiating a swap deal featuring Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio.

Eden Hazard

Reports in Spain claim that Chelsea have a tabled a bid for the young winger who has been making a name for himself over the last year.

Marco Asensio has been on the rise with the Blancos but is yet to nail down a starting role at the club. He possesses blistering fast pace and a gem of a left foot capable of producing thunderous shots. The 22-year-old scored a number of long-range blinders for the Blancos last season.

Asensio made a total of 19 appearances in the La Liga last season, scoring 6 goals and providing 6 assists. He also recorded 1 goal and 1 assist in 3 Champions League appearances for the club.

The youngster has shown all the potential and capabilities to go on and become one of the most feared wingers out there.

The 22-year-old is also a neat passer of the ball, averaging a pass success rate of 90.2% in the league. He also averaged 91.5% in the Champions League.

And while he may not be a like-to-like replacement for Eden Hazard, this could be the best deal the Blues could get out of this transfer saga.

Hazard is certainly one of Chelsea’s most influential players on the field and his presence will be missed. But Sarri can relieve himself of that pressure by signing Marco Asensio, who could take the Premier League by storm.
