Everton bagging this 23-year-old Serie A sensation for just €24m would be an absolute steal by Marco Silva

Everton opinion: Silva wants Patrick Schick – a wise move by the Toffees

According to a report from Tuttomercato Web, Everton are plotting a move for AS Roma’s Czech forward Patrick Schick in the summer.

The report reveals that the Toffees along with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig showed interest in the striker during Christmas and Roma are willing to sell both Edin Dzeko and Schick in the summer.

The Serie A giants are looking for a fee of around 24million but they would be willing to let him leave on loan with an obligation to buy. Everton should make a move as he would give them a wide variety of options up front.

Schick first rose to the spotlight in the season he joined Sampdoria from Sparta Praha in 2016. In his debut campaign in the Serie A, Schick caught the eye of a number of teams including Roma after he scored an impressive 13 goals and provided 5 assists in all competitions.

Roma moved in for the Czech international at the end of that season and secured a loan move with a conditional obligation to buy next season. Schick wasn’t given the game time that he would’ve wanted as he started just 10 games in Serie A all season and scored just twice.

Roma completed the permanent switch for the forward at the start of this season but Schick, like most of his teammates, has had a poor season so far and has scored just 5 goals in 27 games in all competitions.

However, Schick has mostly played as a backup for Edin Dzeko and with regular game time and the trust of his manager, he can achieve great things in his career.

The 23-year-old possesses massive potential and with still a long way to go in his career, he would be an ideal fit under a manager like Marco Silva. Despite naturally being a centre-forward, Schick has the tendency to drift wide on either wing when played with a partner up top.

The former Sampdoria man’s pace and skill on the ball give his manager the option of playing on the wing and with Everton’s continuous problem on the right flank with Theo Walcott, Schick would be an ideal addition to the Toffees squad.

Schick has the knack of using his body to guard the ball in all areas of the pitch, which is a fantastic trait in the Premier League where his physicality will be tested to its peak. However, Schick will have to improve on his decision-making in the final third, which has sometimes let him down over the years.

Conclusion

Two positions where Everton desperately need reinforcements are up front. The signing of Patrick Schick will certainly solve both of those problems and will open up a ton of different tactical options for Marco Silva in the summer. Everton should make a move for the Czech forward in the summer, especially with him being just 23 years old.
