Why Gabriel Barbosa would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool
According to The Sun, Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa has confirmed his admiration for the Premier League and wants to play for Liverpool.
The report also suggests that the Brazilian goal machine wants to prove himself in the Premier League and wishes to line up alongside Roberto Firmino for the Reds. Back in 2017, Liverpool were credited with an interest in Barbosa, according to The Sun.
Barbosa, 23, made a move to Italy in 2016 to join Inter Milan after his successful time with Santos FC in his home country. Initially, he struggled at Inter and later went on several loan spells before moving to Flamengo for another loan spell earlier this year.
This season with Flamengo, he has been clinical in front of goal and looks to have regained his form. In 40 matches for the Brazilian side, Barbosa scored a whopping 34 goals and assisted 11 times. He was impressive in their Copa Libertadores campaign where he scored both the goals in the final.
He surely looks to have worked hard to regain his form and is now getting ready for the Club World Cup competition where Flamengo might have to face Liverpool.
Meanwhile, the Reds are on a successful run of form and have also made a club record by being unbeaten in 33 matches. Klopp’s men are on course to claim the Premier League title for the first time since 1990.
They have one of the most fearsome attacking trios in their ranks, the ones who have delivered for them in every situation. With a plethora of excellent forwards in their squad, it might be difficult for Klopp to fit in Barbosa.
But given his form, the Reds must take quick action to secure his services as he can be a perfect backup for Roberto Firmino. At 23 years, the Flamengo man has caught the attention of the footballing world, especially after his recent heroics.
According to Whoscored, Barbosa has registered 4.1 shots, 1 key pass and 1.4 dribbles per game in Brasileirao this season. His shots per game ratio has drastically improved in the past few months and this shows he is ready to make a name for himself in Europe.
At Liverpool, he may not get his chance right from the start but his amazing numbers and work ethic can prove to be vital for the team when he comes on from the bench.
Barbosa is also known for his versatility as he can play on the right flank too. While being deployed as a second-striker, he has done very well. With all these qualities, he would surely be a useful addition to Klopp’s squad

Barbosa can surely go on to improve his qualities and with Liverpool, he can go on to scale greater heights if he moves in the right direction. Under the tutelage of Klopp, Barbosa can sharpen his skills, which can be useful for both Brazil and Liverpool.
Therefore, Liverpool must make him a priority signing and act quickly to secure his services.
