Why Huddersfield Town must go all out and splash £13million on this Belgian winger

According to a report by the Huddersfield Daily Examiner, Huddersfield Town are interested in signing Club Brugge winger Anthony Limbombe this summer. The report further states that a deal in the region of £13m could be on the horizon.

Despite being a newly-promoted outfit, Huddersfield managed to stay afloat in the Premier League last season. They might have finished in the 16th spot but they managed to cause quite a few notable upsets, such as their victory against Manchester United.

David Wagner is a great manager but if Huddersfield are to improve their reputation in the top-flight, they need to bring in reinforcements in the summer. And to that end, a move for Limbombe seems like a step in the right direction.

The 23-year-old played an instrumental role for Brugge as they won the Belgian league last season. Limbombe prefers playing on the left-wing and over the course of the last season, he scored 6 goals and provided 6 assists.

Anthony Limbombe

Limbombe is an exceptional talent, who has the potential to become a top performer. The opportunity to move to the Premier League might sound enticing but it remains to be seen if the Terriers can beat the competition to acquire his signature.

The likes of Newcastle United and Southampton are also interested in him and Wagner must move fast to ensure a bidding war doesn’t erupt anytime soon.

That said, Limbombe’s playing style could help him become a lethal player for Huddersfield next season. He is quite incisive when it comes to cutting inside from the wing and he is an excellent finisher.

Limbombe is constantly on the prowl, looking to make things happen up front, and he is quite generous with providing opportunities for his teammates as well. Prior to his spell with Brugge, Limbombe played for NEC Nijmegen in the Eredivisie, meaning he has a good amount of experience as well.

If Wagner manages to complete a deal for the young Belgian, it goes without saying that it will be a brilliant move. After capturing Terrence Kongolo from Monaco, Limbombe would be another great addition to Huddersfield.

Although they finished in the 16th spot last season, Huddersfield displayed flashes of brilliance. With players like Kongolo and Limbombe at hand, the Terriers will surely be capable of harbouring higher ambitions next season. Thus, the club must do everything they can to acquire the pacy winger’s signature this summer.
