Why Is It The Right Time For Arsenal To Finally Sign This Midfield Target: Beast Presence That They Require

William Carvalho

Should Arsenal Finally Complete A Deal For William Carvalho

Lack of European football will surely be a blow for Arsenal next season but that has not stopped them from luring top talents to the club this summer. The likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac are expected to be integral parts of the first team next season.

But Wenger is not done with his summer business and is looking to add players to a couple of particular positions in the squad. While a winger will be of priority, one position the Frenchman is determined to improve is his midfield.

According to trusted Portuguese news outfit Record, Arsenal are now looking to make a bid for one of their long-term transfer targets in William Carvalho. The Portuguese midfielder has been on the radar of every big English club for more than a year now but Record claims that Arsenal are prepared to make a €30m bid for him this summer.

A product of one of the most prestigious academies in world football, Carvalho was promoted into the first team at Sporting after two loan stints in 2013. Since then, he has cemented a place in the first team for club and country.

The 25-year old is known for his physical approach to the game and his ability to dictate the tempo of the game from a deep position. He is one of the best CDMs in Europe at the moment and his ability to dribble past opponents or find a path breaking pass from the back make him much more dangerous.

He can sit in between the centre-backs to help his side build attacks from the back while he is also adept at creating chances for the side from a midfield role. He is strong with the ball at his feet and can fend off opponents in dangerous areas, while his ability to win the ball early and make inch perfect tackles, makes him a genuine star.

He is a rare breed in the current transfer market and at just €30m, he is an absolute steal. At just 25, he is also a long-term option for Arsenal and can solve the midfield woes at the Emirates for years to come.

Swiss international Granit Xhaka’s improved performances late last season should see him start the next season as the part of the midfield duo for Wenger but Welsh international Aaron Ramsey has not shown enough promise to warrant a first-team spot next season.

Mohamed Elneny is the only other option for Wenger, as the French gaffer is set to let Francis Coquelin leave the club. Spanish star Santi Cazorla is still out with an injury and cannot be depended upon, making Carvalho the first choice. With his experience at the highest level, he could be a stellar addition to the squad for Arsenal this summer.
