Leeds offering a new deal to their key star is an absolute no-brainer and Bielsa must do it

Leeds United Opinion – Should Leeds offer Mateusz Klich a new deal?

Championship hopefuls Leeds United are in contention to automatically get promoted to the Premier League come the end of this season.

Despite their wobble since the turn of the year, a good run of results in the final 10-12 games would be enough to take them where they feel they belong to – the Premier League.

They have been unlucky with injuries throughout this campaign, but manager Marcelo Bielsa has managed to get the best out of the team in testing circumstances as well.

There is one player who has been an absolute certainty in the team from day one and has played a fantastic season so far – Mateusz Klich. Here’s why Leeds should offer him a new deal as soon as possible:

Mateusz Klich

Klich is the midfield enforcer in the team

Klich has played every game this season, which is an achievement in such a physically demanding league like the Championship. The best thing about him is his ability to be involved in games even when things are not quite going his way.

The Polish international’s energy, commitment to the cause and propensity to put in a shift every single game is fabulous, to say the least. He has scored seven goals and supplied seven assists in 35 appearances so far, which is pretty decent for a midfielder.

The 28-year-old has provided key passes at a rate of 1.3 and his passing accuracy of over 80% is pretty eye-catching. Without the ball, he gets stuck into tackles, at an average of 1.7. (Whoscored.com)

All in all, he is an ideal player in central midfield, who knows exactly what the manager wants from him.

Conclusion

It is pretty evident that Mateusz Klich is one of the key players in this Leeds United team. Irrespective of whether they get promoted or not, the Polish international should kept at Elland Road beyond 2020.

For that to happen, the club must offer him a contract extension sooner than later.
