Liverpool are better off without adding this U21 Euro winner to the squad and here’s why

Why Liverpool need not sign Fabian Ruiz anytime soon

Fabian Ruiz had a wonderful summer as he helped the U21 Spanish side to win the U21 Euros.

The Napoli midfielder was on the rise at Real Betis before the Italians snapped him up at the start of the previous season.

Ruiz’s stock has only risen since his move to the Serie A, and the 23-year-old has already been called up for the Spanish senior side.

The 23-year-old has caught the eye of several clubs, according to Calciomercato, with Liverpool interested in his services.

Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also keen on the 23-year-old but the Reds don’t need Ruiz at the moment.

Stocked with several quality options

Liverpool’s midfield is one of the hardworking in the world and they have three engines doing the business on most match days.

Fabinho has been stellar since he arrived at the club last season while Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum also have grown under Jurgen Klopp.

The trio seems irreplaceable at the moment under Klopp and the German has other options for a couple of years, at least.

Fabinho

James Milner has never disappointed in midfield while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain seems to be getting back to his best after a nightmare injury.

Adam Lallana is also present in the team, and it will be interesting to see how he does this season.

Ruiz can play in a deeper role or in an attacking one, but Liverpool have options for such roles next season too.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

The Ox should be a starter for the Reds in a couple of years and could be the driving force we need in the team.

Further, Marko Grujic has been doing extremely well in Germany, and the Serbian could replace Milner, should the Englishman retire or leave the Reds.

Liverpool also have Naby Keita waiting in the wings, and the 23-year-old has also struggled with injuries since joining from Leipzig.

Verdict

Ruiz seems to be a quality football and one who will improve in the coming years.

However, Liverpool don’t need the Spaniard now and should concentrate on strengthening some other positions.
