Why free agent Max Meyer must ditch Arsenal to join Liverpool
Arsenal and Liverpool have been busy in the transfer market so far. Liverpool should build on their Champions League loss against Real Madrid while Arsenal, on the other hand, haven’t finished in the top-four for two consecutive years now.
New manager Unai Emery should prioritize a top-four finish to get them back on track. Liverpool have already completed a deal for Fabinho and with the arrival of Naby Keita, the squad does look stronger.
Meyer is deservedly regarded as one of Germany’s brightest young talents. Although he failed to make it to the German squad for the World Cup, the youngster has shown admirable potential and maturity.
Regardless, out of the two teams, it seems like Liverpool are the ones who could use the player in their squad.
Liverpool haven’t found a replacement for departed star Phillipe Coutinho and their lack of creativity was apparent on numerous occasions last season. The Merseyside club are in dire need of creative talent in the middle of the park and making a move for the German does seem sensible.
The 22-year-old made a total of 21 appearances for Schalke 04 last season but failed to score a single goal in the league. His only goal came in a DFP Pokal match.
The youngster might not have been all that convincing in the previous term but one must bear in mind that Coutinho was a bench-warmer before taking the Premier League by storm.
Liverpool must convince the player for a move and they might have an edge, considering the fact that both Klopp and Meyer are Germans.
Furthermore, the Reds gaffer is excellent when it comes to developing youngsters who are looking to make a name for themselves in the game. His record with previous clubs proves that he is one of the best managers to do so.
Hence, Max Meyer should make a wise choice and pick Liverpool over Arsenal. The midfielder could become their new talisman in the centre of the park and lead them to glory.
