Liverpool are in the perfect position to have a massive Summer transfer window. After reaching the Champions League final, it will not be hard for them to attract players to come to the club and they have also pretty guaranteed that they will be playing in the Champions League next year as well.
Another reason that players will want to join Liverpool is for Jurgen Klopp, who has done a fantastic job with the team, not only reaching the final of a major competition but also creating a team that plays dynamic, attacking football, which the Premier League has not seen for a long time.
So where do Liverpool go in this transfer window? They need to add to their ranks defensively but Klopp also needs to have one eye on more attacking signings to add even more flair and attacking ability to the team.
One player that has been linked to Liverpool for over a year now is Thomas Lemar of Monaco. Unfortunately for Lemar, he really hasn’t had the best of seasons this time.
This season, he has contributed 2 goals and 10 assists in 29 games, whereas last season before the transfer rumours, he had nearly five times as many goals in the same amount of games.
With this few goals and assists, Lemar would look a little out of place in this Liverpool team as Mane is their lowest scoring attacker, with 10 goals in total. Lemar, this season, has not made the grade.
A player who seems a lot more suited to Liverpool based on his form this year is Bordeaux attacker Malcom. He has had an absolutely fantastic season and has 11 goals and 6 assists in 34 games.
However, it is not just his statistics that lead him to be a better signing for Liverpool than Lemar. It is his style of play. Malcom is exactly the sort of player that Liverpool need – he is direct, pacey, and commits defenders in a way that Liverpool fans have come to expect when watching Salah this year.
In short, Klopp should forget about Lemar and go after Malcom instead – he would be the perfect signing to challenge Mane and Firmino and push everyone at Liverpool to the next level.
