Liverpool must not let this 74-goal hitman leave at any cost regardless of how much money is on the table – Agreed?

Why Liverpool should keep hold of Mohamed Salah amidst Real interest

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, Real Madrid are plotting a mammoth bid for Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah.

While Eden Hazard was brought in as Real Madrid’s ‘Galactico’ addition ahead of this season, there was a tinge of disappointment that neither Paul Pogba nor Neymar arrived from Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

However, Real president Florentino Perez has started planning for the next summer and is expected to test the Reds’ resolve with a whopping €210m for the Egyptian, the report adds. So, what should be Liverpool’s play?

Liverpool struck gold when they signed Mohamed Salah from AS Roma two years ago. He has proven a bargain buy for the Reds and was one of the club’s key players last season as they won the Champions League and finished second in the Premier League.

Since arriving from Roma in 2017, the Egyptian international has scored 74 goals in 110 appearances, winning the Premier League Golden Boot in both seasons he has been at Anfield.

In his first season, he claimed the PFA Player of the Year award after netting 44 in all competitions. Last year, he helped Liverpool claim the Champions League for the sixth time in their history as they beat Tottenham in the final.

And the nippy winger’s form has continued into the new campaign, with three goals already in the Premier League. That has seen Salah collect the first Liverpool Player of the Month award of the 2019-20 season.

Not only has Salah been sensational for the Reds, but he has also succeeded in striking an unbelievable partnership with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. Jurgen Klopp has built a fantastic Liverpool side that is famed for its relentless pressing, pace, power, energy and deadly finishing.

In Salah, Firmino and Mane, Liverpool have arguably the best attack in Europe and more than capable of destroying elite teams on their day.

Salah is currently under contract until 2023 after signing a new, improved deal in June last year, so the Reds would be under no pressure to sell and could insist on a massive transfer fee.

But it is very difficult for players to turn down moves when the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona or Juventus come calling and the diminutive Egyptian is no different. He could be tempted to join Real and be a part of the club’s rich history.

Verdict

Nevertheless, Liverpool cannot afford to let go of Salah. Klopp must do everything in his power to keep hold of his star performer, with the Egyptian being a huge part of the club’s consecutive runs to Champions League finals.
