Long-term future in safe hands? – Liverpool signing this Crystal Palace prodigy would be a worthy bargain

Why Liverpool should move for Crystal Palace prodigy Zion Atta

According to MSN, Liverpool are among a host of the Premier League clubs tracking Crystal Palace starlet Zion Atta, who has attracted widespread media attention due to his rapid progress at the youth level.

Crystal Palace beat off competition from a number of big clubs to snap up Zion Atta from London rivals Millwall last summer and the 14-year-old teenage sensation is already making waves with his consistently impressive displays at various age-group levels.

Arsenal and Spurs lost out to Palace in the race for the highly-rated prospect last year but they are still keen on bringing him to their academy in the near future, whilst Chelsea, Man City, Man United and Liverpool are all keeping close tabs on the youngster’s development.

Despite being just 14, Atta is expected to feature for Crystal Palace’s U-18 side in the U-18 Premier League this term but the Eagles are likely to find it tough to fend off interest from the division’s top six.

However, as per the report, Atta and his family are pleased with how things are progressing in South London, with the player expressing his desire to stay put at this current club in a bid to further his development.

Palace, though, would be unable to stop the 14-year-old from moving to another club if he chooses to switch boats, given that he is too young to put pen to paper on professional terms at Selhurst Park. They would be entitled to a small compensation fee, nevertheless, if any of the potential suitors make an approach.

Atta is still very much a kid but he has already been earmarked for success at the highest level, with the youth coaching staff at Selhurst Park regarding the teenager as a player with serious potential.

That he is set to make his mark for the U-18s at the age of 14 is indicative of a level of maturity that belies his tender years and interest from the Premier League’s big guns in the services of the starlet doesn’t really come as a big surprise.

To put things into perspective, not much is known about Zion Atta but he does look like a special talent and Liverpool would do themselves a world of good if they manage to beat off competition from their Premier League rivals in the race to sign the emerging prospect.

Liverpool’s status as the reigning champions of Europe coupled with their stability at the helm of affairs under Jurgen Klopp should make a move to Anfield an exciting proposition for the 14-year-old starlet and Atta would be yet another fantastic addition to the existing pool of burgeoning young talents at the club.

Alternatively, it would also make perfect sense for the youngster to stay at Palace and continue his development, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Wilfried Zaha being amongst those in recent times to have graduated from the Eagles’ academy before their rise to stardom in the Premier League.

Liverpool, though, should look to use their pulling power to attract the talented starlet to the club and give themselves a chance of polishing a youngster who has been dubbed as a special talent.

The Reds have made it a priority to supplement their youth ranks with quality young talents like Harvey Elliot, Sepp van den Berg, Kamil Grabara and Ki-Jana Hoever in recent times and Zion Atta could be another star in the making.

All in all, the Palace starlet is one for the future and Liverpool making a move for him could go on to pay rich dividends in the years to come.
