Man Utd signing this talented 24-year-old struggling for game time at Juventus would be a win-win situation

Why Man United should make a move for Adrien Rabiot in January

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Adrien Rabiot is already considering an exit from Juventus. It is claimed that the midfielder’s representatives have already reached out to Barcelona regarding a deal as he struggles to find his place in the current Juventus set-up.

Adrien Rabiot, 24, joined the Bianconeri this summer on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. Aaron Ramsey also arrived at Juventus this summer, while the presence of Miralem Pjanic, Sami Khedira, Emre Can,

Blaise Matuidi and Rodrigo Bentancur has left Rabiot behind the pecking order. The Frenchman has enjoyed limited game time at the Old Lady, starting just two matches to date across all competitions.

If Rabiot is indeed considering his future at Juventus already, then Manchester United should rekindle their interest in the midfield ace.

Manchester United, who were interested in signing Rabiot on a free transfer at the end of last season, have made the worst start to a league season in 30 years on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s watch, sitting 12th and just two points above the bottom three.

Not surprisingly, United have been left woefully short of goals, scoring just nine in eight league games, while injuries and inexperience have blighted the forward line. They have also lacked quality and depth in the midfield department, with Fred attracting criticism for his lacklustre performances this season and Nemanja Matic being kept on the sidelines by Solskjaer.

The pressure is mounting on Solskjaer, who apparently has the backing of the United board and won’t get sacked even if results don’t change quickly. The Norwegian is expected to be given time to rebuild the squad and as his three summer signings have by far been the club’s best players so far this season, the board are highly likely to back him again with funds in January.

The Red Devils boss’ priority will be to bring in a prolific centre-forward as well as fix his midfield. And Adrien Rabiot would be a good fit for United’s midfield.

Rabiot really is a wonderful player with great technical qualities. He is a left-footed central midfielder that has made quite the reputation for himself in recent years with PSG. The Frenchman is a box-to-box midfielder who is useful going forward and can take great care of the ball.

The 24-year-old is a major talent that could enhance the United midfield if he settled quickly in England, giving Solskjaer a formidable combination.

A Scott McTominay-Adrien Rabiot combination in United’s midfield would provide Paul Pogba with the license to play his natural game and open up opposition’s defences from an advanced role.

Verdict

It would be a real statement of intent if Solskjaer and United were able to successfully sign Rabiot in January, especially given Barcelona’s interest in the midfield ace.
