Why Man United Should Offer As High As £275,000-a-week And Complete A Deal For David De Gea

The 26-year-old Spanish goalkeeper has single-handedly won several games for Manchester United over the years and has proved to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Manchester United need to realise that David de Gea might not stick around much longer at Old Trafford if he is not given the treatment or lucrative deal that he deserves. While the likes of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku make £275,000-a-week, the Spanish shot-stopper is still on his £190,000-a-week wages.

What’s important here is that De Gea only has two years left on his current contract and if Manchester United do not offer him a significantly improved contract that matches the wages of Pogba and Lukaku, they are at risk of losing one of their best players.

According to Daily Star, De Gea is willing to commit to the Red Devils beyond his current contract only if his wage demands are met.

De Gea has achieved magnificent feats during his time at Old Trafford and is continuing to do so despite interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish club were desperate to sign the Spaniard at one point but could not broker a deal.

Real Madrid are aware of the quality that De Gea could add to their first team and could come back for the Spaniard soon. The reigning UCL champions are currently struggling in the La-Liga as they find themselves 8 points behind Barcelona.

Jose Mourinho cannot risk losing his first choice goalkeeper especially when he is trying to build a legacy at Old Trafford. So it would be wise on Manchester United’s part to offer a new £275,000-a-week contract to keep De Gea happy at the club and keep the idea of moving to Real Madrid away from his head.

David de Gea is leading the stats for clean sheets with 8 in 10 games so far in the Premier League this season. They take on defending champions Chelsea next and as always, De Gea will be a crucial presence for the Red Devils.

The Spaniard has made massive strides since making his debut under Sir Alex Ferguson and it would be a huge mistake on Manchester United’s part to lose one of the best goalkeepers in the world. The player does seem to love the club and United should make use of this to negotiate a deal and keep him at the club.
