Man United signing this budding 20-year-old Russian starlet would get them a worthy Lukaku replacement

Why Man United should revive interest in Fedor Chalov

Months ago, Manchester United were one of the sides to show interest in Russian striker Fedor Chalov alongside Tottenham and Liverpool. (h/t Mirror)

Chalov, who currently plays for CSKA Moscow, broke into the spotlight following his impressive campaign the last term, where goals flooded from his feet.

The 20-year-old racked up a total of 17 goals and 7 assists in the process, topping the scoring chart in Russian top-flight.

Some of his notable moments were his earth-shattering goals in the Champions League group-stage, especially against perennial winners Real Madrid.

Chalov – a worthy successor for Lukaku

A long-time youth product of the capital club, Chalov broke into the main team in 2016. However, he was subject to more acclaim only in the 18/19 campaign. His meteoric success also helped him with his national team debut earlier this year.

At Old Trafford, Romelu Lukaku’s future is up in the air as he is heavily linked with a move to the Serie A, with Juventus and Inter Milan turning out to be his next possible destinations.

In the Belgian’s stead, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should find a player who can contribute to the club’s long-term future. Chalov certainly fits the criteria.

Romelu Lukaku

The Russian prodigy is an out-and-out striker and is deadly inside the box with his clinical finishing techniques. The Red Devils encompass a great attacking line-up including the likes of newbie Daniel James. That said, the absence of a pure striker still prevails.

To extract the best out of Chalov, Solskjaer should partner him with fellow striker Rashford in a 4-4-2 formation, with the latter acting as the second striker.

Final Verdict

United have made their reinforcements accordingly so far and they need to add depth to the attacking line-up. The tradition of signing young talents should continue with Russian prodigy Chalov, who is nearing his 100th match mark with CSKA Moscow.
