Why Manchester United must make a move for Suso in January
Suso has been one of the most important players for AC Milan in the last couple of seasons. The Spanish winger scored eight times and added as many assists in a solid 2018-19 season. He has earned five caps for Spain, most recently playing in the 4-0 win over the Faroe Islands in September.
But Suso has not enjoyed the best start to the new season, managing just one assist in eight Serie A outings. He did start Stefano Pioli’s first game in charge of the Rossoneri as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Lecce at the weekend but his performance came in for criticism from both the fans and the media.
The Sun indicates the 25-year-old is angling for an exit in the winter window. Suso is understood to have a release clause of £36 million in his deal at the San Siro and Milan are keen to sell.
That being said, Manchester United must reignite their interest in the Spaniard when the transfer window reopens.
Manchester United are struggling under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, currently, 14th in the Premier League, although they did pick up a draw with table-topping Liverpool last weekend, which will have boosted morale.
Goals have been a problem for United this season, with just 10 in nine league games, and two in three Europa League games so far this campaign.
The one and only time the Red Devils have struck more than one goal was on the opening match of the season when they battered Chelsea 4-0. Since then they have won just once in the Premier League and are just two points above the relegation zone ahead of a trip to Norwich City on Sunday afternoon.
Solskjaer offloaded Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan in the summer and failure to bring in adequate replacements has come back to bite his club.
To put things into perspective, United need reinforcements in every area of the pitch, barring the goalkeeping and defence. Their main problem has been the creation of chances and scoring goals, which Solskjaer must prioritise addressing in January.
A genuine right-winger who can create chances and score goals is the need of the hour and Suso would fit the billing at Old Trafford.
Even if Suso hasn’t set the world alight so far this campaign, the ability is certainly there for the former Liverpool player, who managed just 14 Premier League games between 2012 and 2015.

The Spaniard is a diminutive, skilful and creative winger by trade but, with a wand of a left-foot and the ability to cut open defences with a splitting through ball, he could form a devastating partnership with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James.
The Cadiz-born star would give Solskjaer’s team real width and creativity from the right, whilst also being an excellent counter-attacking outlet.
Verdict
Hence, the Red Devils must not hesitate to splash the cash on Suso and make his signing one of the priorities in January.
