Why Klopp is right in ruling out Liverpool move for this world-class French superstar

Why Mbappe to Liverpool would be a total waste of resources

According to Spanish press El Desmarque (h/t Liverpool Echo), European champions Liverpool will battle it out with Spanish giants Real Madrid to sign French star Kylian Mbappe.

El Desmarque (h/t Liverpool Echo) further states that the Premier League leaders have the financial backing to land the young forward after a particularly quiet outing in the summer market.

However, manager Jurgen Klopp has brushed aside any such reports, claiming that there is no chance of the World Cup winner moving to the Merseyside club, as claimed by The Guardian.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are on an unbeaten run this season as they stay on top of the Premier League table with 11 wins from 12 matches.

The Reds have continued from where they left off last summer. They ended the season on a high after clinching their sixth European title, overcoming Tottenham Hotspur.

Mbappe, on the other hand, is on a roll after top performances for both club and country.

The versatile 20-year-old has scored five times for Paris Saint-Germain this season. In fact, he is the club’s joint top-scorer alongside Angel Di Maria and Mauro Icardi.

His three assists from five games provide an overall view of the Frenchman’s all-round abilities as an attacker. Only Di Maria has more for the Parisians, with five to his tally.

The young Mbappe, who has a World Cup to his name already, has excelled this season in the Champions League for the Thomas Tuchel-led side, scoring three goals and assisting once.

It has been an excellent start to the season for the French forward, who has a whopping 18 goals from a total of 29 games in all competitions this term.

Given his performances, it does not come as a surprise that a team as strong as Liverpool are eager to grab his signature.

Nevertheless, with Klopp denying any kind of involvement with the Frenchman (h/t The Guardian), a move to the Merseyside club looks far from happening.

Besides, Mbappe, who moved to PSG from Monaco for a fee close to £166m last year, would also cost the Reds a huge amount.

Moreover, with a potent attack that includes the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, it really seems like an unnecessary move by the Reds.

With Brazilian star Roberto Firmino holding the duo together, Liverpool have enough talent upfront.

Verdict

Under Klopp, the Reds have turned out to be one of the strongest sides in recent times.

The Reds function as a team quite well, with every player in the side making useful contributions.

Hence, signing a player such as Mbappe, who is so expensive, would just be a waste of time and resources for the Merseyside club.
