Norwich landing this talented Man United starlet in the summer would be a wise move by Daniel Farke

Norwich City opinion: Canaries must win the race for Dean Henderson

English news outlet Birmingham Live have reported that Norwich City have entered the race for on-loan Manchester United starlet Dean Henderson.

The Canaries are the favourites to clinch the Championship title at the moment and have a four-point lead over second-placed Sheffield United and a five-point lead over third-placed Leeds United.

Hence, it’s no surprise that they’re interested in Henderson, given just how good the Manchester United starlet has been at Sheffield United. In 36 appearances, the 22-year-old has the joint most clean sheets in the Championship, making more than a few stunning saves along the way.

The Daily Mail has reported that Bayern Munich, Juventus and even Tottenham are in the race for the young shot-stopper. All this comes despite the fact that the young goalkeeper is yet to make a senior appearance for Manchester United, and his performances have rightfully earned him the interest.

This is not the first time that Henderson has played so well, with him making it to the League One Team of the Season with Shrewsbury Town last season.

Dean Henderson’s performances last season saw him do enough to earn a two-year deal with Manchester United but at the moment, that has only eighteen months are left on it.

That’s exactly why Norwich City should make a move in the summer. The Canaries are on track to get promoted this season and they’ll need a good shot-stopper to help them stay up. At the moment, they have Tim Krul and Michael McGovern at their disposal, but McGovern has failed to impress.

The 34-year-old is in no shape to play regularly in the Premier League, with just six appearances to his name, and has yet to make his Championship debut this season. Krul, on the other hand, knows the Premier League well, having played nearly 160 games with Newcastle United in the top-flight.

That experience will come in handy, but the Dutch international is 30 years old. As such, the Canaries need a long-term replacement next summer and few goalkeepers would be as affordable or talented as Dean Henderson.

The 22-year-old can easily be a long-term solution to their goalkeeping woes but only if a move does take place in the near future.

Conclusion

Norwich City needs a new goalkeeper and someone like Dean Henderson only comes around once in a while.

If Norwich City manage to convince Henderson that a better path to first-team football lies with them, it would be a good move for all parties involved.
